Little Silver PTO Committees

 Upcoming Events:

4th Grade Slide Show and Breakfast
Chair:   Kate Galbavy and Jen Salvo

Volunteers are needed to coordinate the year-end 4th Grade Breakfast and Clapping Out Ceremony.  These activities require several planning meetings in the spring, and on-site help at the event itself.  Cleanup crew is also needed after the event.

8th Grade Graduation Dance
Chair:   Volunteer needed, and 7th grade room parents

The 8th Grade dance follows the 8th grade graduation in the Cafetorium and provides a fun-filled way for our Markham graduates to finish off their year.  Many details must be attended to and 7th grade parents traditionally create this event.  However, one chairperson is needed to coordinate efforts and one or two volunteers are also needed to create the slideshow.

Around the World Day
Chair:   Maria Nakleh and Lydia Jain

This second grade event is an entire day dedicated to exposing students to cultures and facts about other countries.  Parent volunteers create tri-fold poster board style presentations to teach small groups of students about a country they feel a connection to.  They can bring articles of interest to share with the students, do a brieft craft, or share stories from their experiences there.  At the end of the day the students have had the opportunity to "visit" approximately 16 countries, complete with passports!  Parent volunteers gain the opportunity to share their knowledge and experiences with the students.  This day is not only fun, but meaningful with an underlying lesson of appreciating each other's differences, and the differences of varying cultures.  We encourage second grade parents to volunteer if they have lived or visited another country, or are simply interested in teaching about a faraway place!  Parents of students in other grades are also encouraged and welcomed to volunteer!   This event will be held March 15th.

Box Tops for Education
Chair:   Larisa Weaver

By clipping Box Top coupons or participating in online promotions, you could fund a class trip, a set of books or any number of special school projects.  Sign up for this committee to help get the word out how easy it is to raise money for our schools via everyday purchases, help count coupons and determine prize winners.

We also facilitate meetings and discussions for Gifted and Talented interests and the Parent Advisory Council. LSFODL is an active participant in Two River Friends of Different Learners, a regional group. We collaborate with the Two River districts to offer support group meetings and guest speakers. Please us on our Web site or like us on Facebook. For more information on FODL activities, meetings or to be added to the FODL mailing list, contact:
